Tin Shed Sports Bicycle Consignment Guidelines
At Tin Shed Sports, we are committed to offering high-quality, safe, and reliable bicycles to our customers. In exchange for committing your equipment for consignment, Tin Shed will help sell your equipment by:
Allowing the equipment to be sold in a neutral, professional atmosphere that eliminates the uncertainty of dealing with someone coming to your house and exchanging funds
Allowing the equipment to be sold by a professional who knows the equipment inside and out
Allowing the customer to acknowledge that the equipment has been been inspected such that it is functioning as intended
Tin Shed will advertise your equipment in the shop and on our website, and may use social media to help increase advertising
Tin Shed has established the following guidelines for accepting on consignment:
1. Consignment Intake
Please call ahead to schedule a consignment evaluation appointment.
A $50.00 safety inspection is required on all bikes due at check-in.
2. Age and Value Requirements
Bicycles must be no older than 5 years from the date of original manufacturer date.
The original retail price must have been greater than $2,000.00 .
For children’s bikes, the original retail must have been greater than $500.00
3. Bicycle Condition and Safety
All bicycles must meet Tin Shed Sports safety and service standards prior to being listed for sale.
All repair costs will be paid in full prior to being listed for sale.
The consigning customer agrees to cover all costs necessary to meet our safety and performance standards. This includes but is not limited to:
Brake inspection and service
Drivetrain cleaning and tuning
Tire replacement (if necessary)
Frame and component inspection
4. Pricing and Commission
If work/parts are required, the $50.00 safety inspection fee will be put towards the work needed
Tin Shed Sports will work with the customer to determine a fair and competitive asking price utilizing commonly used internet sites and the customers desired price.
Tin Shed Sports will retain a 30% commission (excluding taxes) from the final sales price of the bicycle, with a cap of $1000, whichever is less
The customer may choose to receive payment in store credit. If the customer chooses in-store credit, the commission is decreased to 25%.
5. Sales Period
Bicycles must sell within 45 days from the date they are listed for sale.
At the end of the initial 45 day period, the customer will be contacted to arrange for pickup or return.
Bicycles not picked up within 14 days of notice may be subject to storage fees or considered abandoned.
If the customer wishes to remove bicycles from consignment prior to the 45 day sales period, a $50.00 charge will be assessed.
6. Right of Refusal
Tin Shed Sports reserves the right to decline any bicycles for consignment at its sole discretion. Considerations may include brand reputation, condition, marketability, or safety concerns.
7. Agreement and Liability
Customers must sign a Consignment Agreement acknowledging these terms before a bicycle will be listed for sale.
Tin Shed Sports is not liable for theft, loss, or damage beyond reasonable control, though we take precautions to protect all consigned items.
